The Women's Center celebrated 44 years of going from #traumatohope at our annual dinner, "An Evening Together," Friday, April 5th at The Amber Room Colonnade. Pictured here: Jessica Tobin, Dinner Co-Chair; Vicki Taylor-Bloch, Board Member and Dinner Co-Chair; Pat Zachman, President & CEO; and Glori Norwitt, Board Chair.
Our annual dinner is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps the Women’s Center provide the greater Danbury area with free, confidential and valuable services, including emergency shelter and support services, counseling and advocacy, crisis intervention, and community education, primary prevention and training. Our next annual dinner is scheduled for Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Amber Room!
A wonderful and uplifting performance by the Ridgefield Cholare opened the program.
Auctioneer Christine O'Leary hit it out of the park and raised the energy in the room to a bidding frenzy for items such as the Premium Kentucky Derby Package with Air!
Our guest speaker, Dr. Jackson Katz, Anti-Gender Violence Activist, Author and creator of the TED Talk, "Violence is a Men's Issue" with over 2 million views, riveted the roomful of over 330 guests with his important message and later stayed to sign books.
This year's Founders Award was given to Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital for their Emergency Rooms' collaboration in serving domestic and sexual assault victims in our 13-town service area. Pictured here, Pat Zachman, Women's Center President & CEO, John Murphy, CEO of Nuvance, accepting the award on the hospitals' behalf, and Glori Norwitt, WC Board Chair.
